The Lighting of Liturgic Space

The bachelor thesis deals with the lighting of aisles, chapel and space under the chior in St. John the Baptist’s church in Frýdek-Místek. The thesis has two parts. The first part focuses on whole concept of lighting, also location of lighting fixtures and its impact on the overall space effect. The second part is the design of the luminaire, respecting the specifics of the space. The luminaire is also trying to satisfy the lighting requirements established by the local parish council.

Architectural study of the sacral object Brno - Live /Líšeň/

The subject of this diploma thesis is the design of a study of a sacral object - the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in Brno, Líšeň. The church building is complemented by a spiritual center. The construction program is limited to the following: the church building, with its facilities - parking spaces, rehearsal room, flower preparation room, sale of small items with a rest area; main nave of the church, choir, space for children with parents, chapel; background of the sacristy - confessional, parish office, sacristy, depositary. Another part of the building program are the premises of the spiritual center: reception, foundation offices with archives, conference room, Sunday school classroom, multifunctional hall, club room, 3 apartments with a separate chapel. Everything is complemented by technical and hygienic facilities. The design is extended by relaxation areas in the vicinity, which expand the portfolio of civic amenities in the area. The design includes both sacral and profane functions. The spiritual center is therefore of a multifunctional nature and offers stimuli both for the Salesian community and for the local inhabitants of the adjacent settlement. Their meeting center is Kostelní náměstí, which meets in the axes of the two main directions of arrival from Horníkova Street and from the Salesian Youth Center. The foreground with seating and sale of small items serves the general public, which can continue to use the multifunctional hall for concerts, lectures, exhibitions. The premises of the clubhouse, classroom and the Parish Atrium will be used for educational and other activities for children, their parents and grandparents and other social groups. The spiritual center also enables the official activities of the foundation with the possibility of using the surrounding facilities. The ancient idea of feeling something beyond us is unquenchable. However, it takes on different forms that are related to the time. In a hectic fast-moving world interwoven with the traffic of means of transport, modern technologies and their constant flow, we are looking for a quiet refuge where time slows down. A place that accepts us as we are. That fulfills our spiritual needs. The diploma thesis responds to this current situation and presents a conceptual vision for the use of an abandoned monastery complex in the center of Brno for a modern spiritual experience. It thus follows on from a pre-diploma project that dealt with contemporary manifestations of spirituality and the spaces associated with it. The proposal is based on the current state of the monastery, scarred by history, and creates a space for meetings. With others, or with some "One". It is based on old certainties such as the rising and setting of the Sun, the alternation of day and night, the symbol of the circle.

The significance of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Hradec Králové and the proposal of the educational program

The diploma thesis contains a brief overview of the historical development of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Hradec Králové. In a rough outline discusses the historical, religious and cultural wealth created by several generations of our ancestors over the course of seven centuries. The diploma thesis contains a proposal of an educational program in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. The program is designed primarily for secondary school students. Considering the uniqueness of the place and its rich potential is there mentioned not only the uniqueness the history and architecture, but also the work of some important personalities of local social and religious life. An integral part of the educational program is the brief history of the church, its development and hierarchy. The contribution of Christianity to the education of the nation is not forgotten either. In this context the program leads to a closer knowledge of the cathedral and the life around it, and helps students overcome prejudices against Christianity ant the Church. It reveals the cathedral as a cultural and social connection.
